Born and raised in Lima, Peru, Richie moved to Los Angeles at the age of 20 where he met noted Peruvian Chef Ricardo Zarate. This started him on his culinary path at Mo-Chica, a small Mercado on Grand Ave., where Richie grew in the ranks. By 2011, he became a Sous Chef at the opening of the famed contemporary Peruvian restaurant, Picca. Then, in 2012 as the opening Chef de Cuisine at Nikkei restaurant Paiche. After years of honing the skills of his mother cuisine, Richie went exploring to expand his knowledge of global cuisine by working with some of the world’s best Chefs, in some of the world’s best restaurants, across a wide range of global culinary traditions. Now, as the Director of Culinary for Soigné Group, Chef Richie Lopez is excited to bring the culinary traditions of his Peruvian childhood to Los Angeles with a wood-fired oven.
